A History is made phrases ... made of words ... made of letters ...
Take a book: It is composed of sentences, which are themselves composed of words, in turn composed of letters. Nesting levels, each follows its own rules: only certain successions of letters give words, all sequences of words do not lead to a sentence that has meaning and grammar rules must be respected; following sentences should lead to a story, structured or not, corresponding to service contemplated.
Looking at the book, there are some whites, that is to say areas that do not in themselves meaningless. However, if you remove these spaces, you have only letters which emerge neither words nor sentences, or the book. These spaces between letters to define the beginning and end of words create a new type of link, a link between the words defined: these spaces separate and together. With these spaces, it goes from the letters than the words.
Similarly, the membrane that limits a cell is what defines and circumscribes it: without the membrane, no cell. But this membrane is also that by which the cell interactions with the rest of the world, with other cells and with these elements it needs to survive. It is also through the membrane it will be able to unite with other cells to go to compose a group of cells, and gradually build the next level. Again, the membrane separates and unites.
Nature is thus built around separation / meetings to articulate and distinguish. Both properties are inseparable and are made indiscriminately. They are the ones that contribute to the strength of each level, it is they who provide the necessary sockets and circulations between levels.
