Damask Black & White Wrapping Paper

LIFE OF AN UNFINISHED

Fortunately Michelangelo has not ended ...
At Florence, statues are amazing and challenging. I speak of the slave statues made by Michelangelo, which remained unfinished. Originally located in Cave Buontalenti they are since 1924 in Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence .
Every time I see them, I feel like slaves trying to get out of the stone, to extract them. They are being born before me. They emerge. I like to imagine that these are unfinished works voluntarily.
Michelangelo gave them life, but has not completed, leaving them free to their future. What a nice paradox for slaves! What will they do? How will they cope and face the world in which they emerge?

Michelangelo did not know. So he has drawn with great respect, gave them just what they needed to live, but nothing more. To them fend for themselves.
These sculptures are, for me, a nice metaphor of management in uncertainty: it draws a little bit but not too much, it outlines the forms, it gives direction ... and we let it.
This does certainly not say that the strategy should be a draft. Do you feel drafts looking to see his statues? I did not. I see life and energy. It because they are incomplete they are alive to them with us fill in the gaps ...
What is living, this is not finished, not finished. What is finished is finished, finished and then death ...
Building Strategy is also about finding the lines of force, these seas that attract over the rivers. Building a strategy is to leave blanks for the life that fills ...
